Staying in my apartment, time for some major spring cleaning

I decided to stay in the Center after my amazing landlord (at a great cost to her) installed new custom-made windows.

While I miss the charm of the old windows with their wooden indoor shutters, being able to get a good nights sleep is more important.

Originally, I wanted to move because of the noise and for more space. The noise issue in the summer will still be there (as I will want to open my windows ) but I can wear ear plugs like I have in the past. My landlord's architect came by to measure for a shelving unit in the kitchen area. That will help a lot with storage issues.

Living in such a small space I really have to keep clutter to a minimum. It's time for a spring cleaning marathon.

One of my favorite websites, Apartment Therapy, has some great spring cleaning TIPS for busy people.

I'm relieved I don't have to deal with the stress and expense of moving right now. My landlord is fantastic, which is something I don't take for granted. My landlord in L.A. was a nightmare. She was a horrible, cheap, dishonest women.

Also, the infamous G lives near by and one of my closest friends is moving to the area. I'm very excited about that.

Do you spring clean?

Congrats! I'm happy to know you're not moving further away from Largo Argentina.

Definitely need to do a big spring clean here -- time to finally go through all our clothes and donate what we're no longer wearing. Can't WAIT for the bedroom to feel lighter! Good luck with yours :)

I should do spring cleaning, but I never do. I inherited from our father the inability to throw things out. I'm not a hoarder or anything like that, but I feel an attatchment to too many things! I'm going to read the article you linked too.

I'm glad you got new windows and will get new storage!!

I wish I could say that every Spring & Fall, I routinely clean out my closets, clear off the kitchen island and organize my pantry. But, alas, no. The closest I come to spring cleaning is cleaning out the refrigerator!
Good luck and enjoy a quiet night's sleep.

g - anch'io!

erin - I didn't want to risk getting another crazy one after the experience I had before.

michelle - I need to donate clothes too. My closet is so tiny, it forces me to edit.

gibber - I'm smack in the middle between Mom and Dad. I do hold on to a few more things than I need to but they are organized.

deborah - I probably should clean my oven and defrost my freezer. I forgot about those!

oh, so you live in the Center of Rome... I envy you:)))

Thanks for the cleaning tips - I hope it will motivate me to do some spring cleaning (especially windows)

Three cheers for your landlord fixing the windows. I know you're relieved.

I tried to spring clean...but I still need to shampoo my Persian rug. It doesn't really feel clean in the house unless I do. Sigh (whips out to-do list)

I do constant cleaning yet after a few minutes it's a mess.
It comes with men.

I guess you can say I do several spring cleanings - but with a toddler running around and messing things up the second after I cleaned you'd never know it.

anna - yes I do. My place is very tiny but I like not having to rely on a car to get around.

los angelista - The new windows have made a HUGE difference!

paolo - ha. That is why I live alone. Just kidding.

j. doe - It must be hard to find the time to even clean when you have a toddler. The little ones require a lot of energy.

dorina - I'm going to save the windows for last. Or maybe I should do them first?
